So my specific version of the time passing problem is more that the above does not play well in terms of gameplay or immersion with survival mods - both in gameplay terms with the long-lasting buffs/debuffs associated with that genre, as well as in terms of immersion with noticing how much darker/brighter it's suddenly gotten. I don't have my wilderness timescale cranked up as high as you, but I'm using Campfire and Hunterborn in this playthrough, which create noticeable time weirdness in combination with DTS because they have some mechanics that occur in real (in-game) time, and other mechanics that artificially skip time (fade to black, fade back in "later"). But that still goes back to the original issue of the illusion of a long trip not being consistent enough to fool you.

Maybe combine with some incentives to not travel at night like really dark nights and dangerous encounters. The only workaround I'd imagine for this is if the mod could recognize sitting inside the campsite to be "indoors" or have an additional mod (or condition?) where if you're outside and its 6am to 5pm the clock moves lighting fast but then slows down after. the distance actually needs to be scaled up. It kinda shows me that trying to compensate for the short distance by speeding up time to give the illusion of a long journey it wont work. Probably because the time is speeding by while im going relatively slowly. What main side effects and inconsistencies do you feel?įor me, besides the poor pacing of travel between cities, is that I dont really feel like I'm enjoying the journey anymore, im making a mad dash to the next city or tavern like im on the clock. Īny other ideas for the above categories? What techniques do you use for increasing the feeling of being in a vast land?

Here's the original post (quoted in full below): Īs I'm sure we're all aware, the game version of Skyrim is pretty tiny - according to this thread, it's roughly 4.32 miles across by 3.42 miles high, or a total of 14.8 square miles. I posted the following about 10 months ago, but that post has since been archived and I'm wondering if there have been any mods published since then that help for this.
